ACCC golfers play at William Jewell

LIBERTY, Mo. — Allen County Community College’s golf team really hasn’t had a good day of weather on the course this spring. Monday was no different.
“The weather was miserable with 35 MPH winds and 45 degrees the first round and a two-hour rain delay and finishing in light rain and wind the rest of the way,” said Mike Hayes, ACCC golf coach, of conditions at Monday’s William Jewell College Spring Invitational.
Allen County’s Chris Grause shot the fourth-best score of the tournament but finished fifth. Grause had rounds of 78 and 76 for a 154 for the 36-hole tournament.
Tim McGinnis of Evangel won top medalist honors with a 149. Evangel won the team title with a 622 and Kansas City, Kan., Community College was one shot back at 623 led by Ben Moser, who had a 150 for second place.
Allen County ended up tied for 12 as a team with a 687 with Rockhurst University-B team.
Andrew Rogers carded 126 (86-80) and Gavin Cole had a 184 (95-89). Josh Massey had a 186 (91-95) and Chad Bruner shot a 189 (92-97).
