Cremation has taken place for Dennis Gilbert West of Caballo, N.M., whose death Friday was published in Tuesday’s Register.
Graveside inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bronson Cemetery .
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at 802 S. Ashby in Chanute.
He was born Dec. 7, 1938, in Bronson, the son of Gayle “Buck” Dusky and Mary Jewel (Anderson) West. He attended school in Bronson and graduated from El Paso High School, El Paso, Texas.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 through 1963.
On Oct. 10, 1996, he married Emma Jean Scully in Miami, Okla. He worked as an oil field worker and was a member of the Methodist Church in Bronson and Masonic Lodge in El Paso.
He enjoyed boating at Table Rock Lake, Okla., four-wheeling and cruising in his 1971 Pontiac convertible.
Along with his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Linda Leake and her husband, Steve, Iola, Mary Daniels and her husband, Brett, Savonburg, and Cheryl Olson, Chanute; a son, Michael Alexander and his wife, Angie, Lenexa; grandchildren, Jason Leake, Iola, Lavon Leake, Chanute, Michelle and Brian Waggoner, Topeka, J.D. Ballard, Chanute, and Sydney Hale, Abi Daniels and Brody Daniels, Savonburg; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Fiekert and her husband, Tom, Paola.
Two sisters, Connie West and Corliss Rowe, died earlier.
