Virginia Hess

Virginia Ruth Hess, 72, Le Roy, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at her home.
The daughter of Carl and Frances (Crabtree) Bartlett, she lived most of her life in Le Roy. She attended school there and was a graduate of Le Roy High School.
She was baptized at age 12 and became a member of First Presbyterian Church. She later attended First Christian Church in Le Roy.
On June 4, 1955, she and Abe Cox were married in Burlington. They later divorced. She and James R. Hess were married on May 4, 1978, in Miami, Okla. They later divorced.
She worked at various jobs over the years and retired from Haldex in Iola after working there 18 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Ginger Cox, Wichita, and Terry Campbell, Le Roy; two grandsons, Jason Strawder and his girlfriend, Alisha, Colony, and Shaun Strawder and his wife, Angie, Le Roy; and four great-grandchildren, Dason and Keagon Strawder and Halie and Trevor Thomas.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Cox, two brothers, John and Don Bartlett, two sisters, Martha Michael and Ramona Cox, and two stepbrothers, Jimmie and Billy Givens.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church in Le Roy. Burial will follow in Le Roy Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 o’clock in Jones Funeral Home in Burlington, which is in charge of arrangements.
