Sharon Carey

Sharon E. Carey, age 65, of Topeka, Kansas, died Friday, October 2, 2009, at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. She was born March 6, 1944, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd and Eula (Culbertson) Harman.
Sharon had worked at sewing factories in Iola and Yates Center in the mid-sixties. She managed the Hays House in Council Grove and worked at Artex in Manhattan. She also worked at the Alpha Chi Omega sorority in Manhattan. She and her husband owned and operated the Country Collectible Shop in Paxico. She made many of the craft items and flower arrangements that were sold in the shop. Sharon was a loving mom and grandma. She enjoyed gardening, genealogy, roller skating and watching NASCAR.
She was married to James B. Carey on March 1, 1986. He preceded her in death on September 29, 2009.
She is survived by three sons, Mark Miller and Kim of Topeka, Jeff Miller, Topeka, Lester Carey and Teresa, Bean Station, Tennessee; one daughter, Sherry Miller and Tim of Eskridge; one brother, Richard Harman and Carol, Ocala, Florida; two sisters, Jonelle Leslie of Iola and Lynda Maddox of Osa-watomie; eight grandchild-ren and three great-grand- children.
Graveside inurnment ser-vices will be at 11 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2009, at Riley Cemetery east of Riley. The Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral home of Riley is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials have been established for the Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Rd., Topeka, KS 66617 and to Hospice Care of Kansas, 2900-H Oakley Ave., Topeka, KS. 66614.
