Seena Ashby

Seena E. Kannarr Thomas Copas Ashby, 92, of Wichita died today, July 14, 2009, at Parkwest Plaza in Wichita.
She was born Jan. 17, 1917, on a farm west of Neosho Falls, the daughter of Charlie C. and Seena A. (Storms) Kannarr.
In April 1936 she married Ralph Richard Thomas, and they had a daughter Phyllis. He died in 1941. After his death she moved to Wichita where she worked for Boeing Aircraft.
In 1944, she married Henry Arthur Copas and they made their home in Wichita. After World War II she began working for Cudahy Packing Company where she worked until they closed the Wichita plant. She then worked a few years for Midwest Plastic Company before her retirement. He died in 1988.
On March 3, 1991, she married Homer L. Ashby, and they made their home in Wichita. In 2005 their health failed and they moved to assisted living and then to the nursing home.
She was a member of North Star Chapter of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Phyllis Treadwell and her husband, William, Stillwater, Okla.; two stepsons, Maurice Ashby and his wife, Ruth, Arvada, Colo., and Johnnie Ashby, Wichita; a stepdaughter, Sherian Miller and her husband, Lloyd, Wichita; seven grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, Raymond, Lloyd, and Frank Kannarr, and four sisters, Peggy Kannarr, Vi Stults, Della Pinkerton and Etta Smith, died earlier.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Yates Center Cemetery with the Rev. Lloyd Houk officiating.
