Scott Francis

Scott E. Francis, 86, of Burlington died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington.
He was born March 20, 1923, in Le Roy, to Ira and Pearl Scott Francis.
On May 24, 1975, he married Helen Joyce Stephens Lewis in Chapman.
He grew up in Le Roy and graduated from Le Roy High School. He served in World War II. He was stationed with the U.S. Army in South Korea. He was an inspector for the U.S Department of Agriculture until his retirement in 1984. He was an avid traveler and accomplished woodworker, with a particular enthusiasm for restoring antique furniture. He was a member of the Neosho Masonic Lodge No. 27 A.F. & A.M. in Le Roy, of which he was recently honored for 60 years of membership and service. He traveled to Washington, D.C., with the Southern Coffey County High School as a part of the Honor Guard festivities for veterans.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Marcia Morrow and her husband, Ken Kriz, Bedford, Texas, and Donna German, Dallas, Texas; four sons, Gary Lewis and his wife, Anita, St. Louis, Mo., Richard and Steve Lewis, Yates Center, and Paul Lewis, Manhattan; grandchildren, Briana, Blake and Tyler German, Christian and Caroline Garcia, Dan Lewis and his wife, Raina, James and David Lewis and Sherry Massey and her husband, Josh; two great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Elton Francis and his wife, Myrtle, Colony; a sister, Olive Carpenter, Iola; nieces and nephews, Janila and Lewis Preston, Kloma and Richard Buckle, Kathy and Danny Boese and Steve and Donna Carpenter; a brother-in-law, Tom Stephens and his wife, Carol; and a sisters-in-law, Blanche Stephens and Mary Stephens.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Le Roy Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
Memorials to Neosho Falls United Methodist Church or donor’s choice may be left at the funeral home.
