Rex Bowen

Rex Lee Bowen, 88, Moran, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at his home.
He was born in LaHarpe on Feb. 12, 1921, the son of Fred Albert and Rena Hazel (Stuteville) Bowen. He was graduated from Moran High School and later took some college classes.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps from Feb. 7, 1944, to Nov. 15, 1945.
He owned and operated a laundry business.
Bowen was united in marriage to Voylia O’Brien on July 16, 1945, in Birmingham, Ala. She survives at the home.
He was a member of the Oklahoma Methodist Conference, the Marmaton Lodge No. 245, the Kiwanis, the York Rite and was a 32nd degree Mason.
Along with his wife, Rex is survived by two sons, Rex Bowen II of Owasso, Okla., and George Bowen of Minneapolis, Minn.; a daughter, Lia Bea Franson of Tulsa, Okla.; four grandchildren, Rex Bowen III of Stillwater, Okla., Stephanie Bowen of Texas, Elizabeth Connor of Edmond, Okla., and Joseph Franson of Tulsa; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Moran Methodist Church.
Memorials in his name may be made to the Oklahoma Methodist Conference or the Moran Methodist Church or any Masonic Lodge.
