Patrick Walsh

Former Chanute resident Patrick John Walsh, 66, of Topeka died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at Countryside Health Center in Topeka.
He was born in Chanute to Ray and Helen Walsh. He joined the U.S. Air Force as a teenager. After his discharge from the military he returned to Chanute and completed his General Education Diploma.
He married Sharon (Steeves) in 1964. He lived in Iola and co-owned and operated a 7-Eleven convenience store with her for several years prior to moving to Topeka, where he was employed as a car salesman. He had been in deteriorating health for many years. The couple had three children and were divorced in 1984.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Stacey Walsh and Bill Lewington, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, and a son, Brian Walsh, Blair, Neb.; grandchildren, Kyle and Erin Lewington; and brothers, Conrad Joe, Aurora, Colo., and Michael, Chanute.
A son, Thomas, died earlier.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Friday at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Chanute.
He will lie in state after 3 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 S.W. 10th Ave., Topeka, Kan. 66604.
