June Dunlap

June Marie Dunlap, 93, of Iola died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at Labette Health at Parsons.
She was born June 22, 1916, in Ludden, N.D., the daughter of Ralph and Laura (Madsen) Karr. She grew up in Leavenworth County near Tonganoxie.
On March 12, 1938, she married Charlie L. Dunlap in Liberty, Mo. In 1946, they made their home on a farm southwest of Moran. She was a homemaker and helped on the farm. He died Jan. 24, 1979. She moved to Iola in 1988.
She had attended Jedo Church east of Humboldt, Moran United Methodist Church and Calvary United Methodist Church in Iola. She served as a docent for Allen County Historical Society and volunteered at the senior citizens center and Meals-On-Wheels in Iola.
She was known for her doughnuts. She enjoyed e-mail and followed the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals as well as all college sports.
She is survived by a son, Mark, Grand Marais, Minn., who recently moved to Iola; two daughters, Wilma Krokstrom and Ann Shetlar and her husband Kenneth, Iola; two sisters, Irene Orth, Payson, Ariz., and Dorothy Drain, Iola; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Three sons, James, R. Milton and Jack, and five brothers, Ahman, William, Robert, Ray and Roy Karr, died earlier.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapels in Iola.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Calvary United Methodist Church in Iola. The Rev. Jim Rausch will officiate. Burial will be in Elsmore Cemetery.
