Johnny Stoneking Sr.

Johnny Doyle Stoneking Sr., 69, of Valley Center and formerly of Iola died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009.
He was born Aug. 26, 1939, in Macomb, Ill., the son of Bennie and Ila (Young) Stoneking. He grew up in Epworth, Iowa.
On Feb. 6, 1958, he married Sandra Beyer in Dubuque, Iowa. He worked for John Deere Tractor in Dubuque. He later owned and operated many businesses including a supper club in Waukon, Iowa, a furniture store in Melbourne, Iowa, and bowling centers in Fort Scott, Iola, and Webster City, Iowa.
After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, hunting and fishing. He was an avid bowler and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Vicky McMillin and her husband, David, Andover, and Stacey Parker and husband, Garen, Mulvane; a son, Jerry and his and wife, Tina, Valley Center; grandchildren, Jeff and Kathy Stoneking, Stephanie Fontes, Amanda and Jessica Novonty, Jacob Parker and Savannah and Jordan Stoneking; great-grandchildren; his stepmother, Ceresa Stoneking, Moline, Ill.; and two sisters, Kathleen Cooper and her husband, Gene, Rantoul, Ill., and Jackie Zook and her friend, Gene, Bushnell, Ill.
A son, Johnny Stoneking Jr., died earlier.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapels in Iola.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service. Food will be served at the American Legion in Iola following the service. Online condolences for the family may be left at
