‘Jerry’ Pulley Jr.

Gerald C. “Jerry” Pulley Jr., 47, of Dixon, Mo., died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at his home from cancer.
He was born Nov. 23, 1961, in Iola, the son of Gerald C. and Princess N.R. (Turner) Pulley. He graduated from Iola High School. He joined the U.S. Army and made the Army his career. He attained the rank of Sgt. 1st Class. He was a paratrooper and medic and served in the Grenada Conflict and Iraq War. He was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., when he left active duty and joined the reserves.
On Jan. 3, 2003, he married Kimberly Summerfield. They made their home in Dixon. He also worked for the Pulaski County Ambulance and Coastal International Security. He belonged to and participated in activities of REACT, a Pulaski County volunteer organization.
He is survived by his wife of the home; a son, Gerald C. III, Iola; three stepdaughters from a previous marriage, Krystal, Sammie Joe and Alexis Torres, New York; two brothers, Ricky, Miami, Okla., and James, Parsons; three sisters, LaTanya Pulley, Missouri, Melinda Clark, Webb City, Mo., and Yolanda Pulley, Pittsburg; a grandson; two stepgrandsons; and his grandmother, Stella Turner, Kansas City, Mo.
His parents and a sister, Stephanie Jennings, died earlier.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapels in Iola.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Philip Honeycutt will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Iola with military honors.
