Irene Jantz

Irene Jantz, 88, of LaHarpe died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at her home.
She was born May 12, 1921, in Moundridge, the daughter of Jacob T. and Katie (Wedel) Schmidt. She grew up in western Kansas.
On July 28, 1941, she married Floyd R. Jantz. They lived and farmed near Syracuse until moving to a farm south of Gas in 1951. They operated a dairy and did custom combine cutting. They left the farm and moved into Gas. He died June 1, 2006.
She is survived by two daughters, Lorena Leake, Hidden Valley Lake, and Evelyn Maloney, LaHarpe; two brothers, Ervin Schmidt and Joe Schmidt, Colorado; a sister, Elsie Becker, Leon; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Linda Rose, a son, Kenneth Jantz, and a granddaughter, Corinna Heard, died earlier.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Gas City Cemetery. The Rev. Marty Dewitt will officiate.
Family and friends will meet at 1 p.m. Friday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapels in Iola to leave for the graveside services at 2 o’clock.
Memorials to Fee’s Park in Gas may be left at the funeral home. Online condolences for the family may be sent to
