Harold Fisher

Harold L. Fisher, 79, of Frontenac died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at Mount Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg.
He was born Dec. 14, 1929, in Iola, the son of Jesse E. and Eva V. (Lasater) Fisher. He was a graduate of Iola High School and Allen County Community College. He received a bachelor of science degree from Emporia State University and a mater of science degree from Pittsburg State University.
On July 28, 1949, he married Loretta Mae Behrnson in Iola. She died Feb. 2, 2003. He married Alma “Lou” Sorrick on July 19, 2004, in Sidney, Ark.
He was a school teacher and administrator for more than 40 years, retiring in 1990 as principal at Westside Elementary School in Pittsburg. In addition to Pittsburg schools he taught in Carterville, Mo., LaHarpe, Humboldt and McCune.
He was a member of Frontenac United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, camping, sweepstakes and coin collecting.
Survivors include his wife, Lou, of the home; four daughters, Sheila A. Hayen, Yukon, Okla., Cynthia J. Clinton, Sidney, Denise L. Farinacci, Asbury, Mo., and Joyce E. McDaniels, Arma; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two stepsons, David D. Sorrick, Pittsburg and Daren D. Sorrick, Girard; a stepdaughter, Tamara R. Wolsey, Arma; five step grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.  
Two sisters died earlier.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Friskel Funeral Home, 230 E. McKay St., in Frontenac with the Rev. Dennis Paschke officiating. Burial will follow in Frontenac City Cemetery.
