Glenn Heffernon

Glenn Lee Heffernon, 87, of Piqua died today, Dec. 22, 2009, at Pinecrest Nursing Home in Humboldt.
He was born July 14, 1922, in Neosho Falls, the son of James A. and Anna (Cooper) Heffernon. He was the youngest of five children. The family moved to Iola when he was a child and he attended Iola High School. He worked at Boeing in Wichita before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Following his honorable discharge from the service, he went to work for AT&T. He followed his job as a lineman and repairman to Garden City, Iola and Dodge City. He retired in 1975 after 30 years. He moved to Iola in 1977 and to Piqua a short time later.
He was a member of the American Legion in Iola.
He is survived by nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, Ira S., James E. and Warren, and a sister, Lena Williams, died earlier.
Family and friends will gather at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapels in Iola for a short time of visitation at 9:30 a.m. Thursday before leaving for Highland Cemetery for graveside services at 10 o’clock. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate.
