Frances Tweedy

Frances E. Tweedy, 83, of Iola died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
She was born March 22, 1926, in Humboldt, the daughter of Robert Maxwell and Ethel Eva (King) Lindsey. She grew up in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School.
She married Evan Dean Tweedy, and they made their home in Iola most of their lives. He died April 16, 1978.
She was an avid bowler and participated in several bowling organizations and numerous functions.
She is survived by a close family friend, Connie Houk; two sons, Lindsey and his wife Jane, and Steven and his wife Karen, Austin, Texas; a daughter, Jeanie Dubois and her husband Mark, Auburn, Ala., two brothers, Harold Lindsey and his wife Jean, Humboldt, and Charles Lindsey and his wife Mary, Cheyenne, Wyo.; nine grandchildren, Kyle Evan, Eva Kathleen, Kayla Lynn, Brian Eugene, Craig Evan and Ross Edward Tweedy, Justin Taylor, Christopher Miles and Benjamin Hayes Dubois; and one great-grandchild.
A brother, Robert Lindsey, and a sister, Mary Edith Littlepage, died earlier.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapels in Iola.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel. Chaplain Lloyd Houk will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
