Conrad Jackson

Oliver Conrad Jackson, 88, of Elsmore died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at his home.
He was born May 28, 1921, in Elsmore, the son of Oliver Conrad Sr. and Della (Swanson) Jackson. He graduated from Elsmore High School in 1938 and from Kansas State University in 1942, where he was a member of Farmhouse Fraternity.
In 1942 he joined the United States Navy and became an aviator and flight instructor.
He was a farmer and also taught elementary and junior high science classes in Bronson, Gas and Iola for 25 years.
He was a member of Friends Home Lutheran Church. He served as a 4-H leader for many years and in 1992 was named a Kansas Master Farmer.
On March 15, 1944, he married Lorella Brown at Friends Home Lutheran Church in Savonburg.
She survives of the home, as do three sons, Bruce and his wife, Sharon, Chanute, and Brian and his wife, Janet, and Jeff, Elsmore; two daughters, Lynn Wray and her husband, Tom, Spring Hill, and Jennifer Jackman and her husband, Mike, Elsmore; a brother, Clifton, Columbia, Md.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Loretta Boman, and grandsons Kent Jackson and Ryan Jackman, died earlier.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Friends Home Lutheran Church in Savonburg. Sid Hose will officiate. Burial will be in Elsmore Cemetery.
Memorials to Friends Home Lutheran Church or American Diabetes Association may be left at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapels of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
