Concealed carry topic for county

Allen County commissioners will take comments from the public on whether concealed weapons should be permitted in the courthouse and if not, what signs should be displayed at entrances, at a hearing at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Concealed weapons are prohibited from courthouses through provisions of the state’s concealed carry law, but county commissioners, through home rule, can allow them.
Those who cannot make the meeting can e-mail comments to County Clerk Sherrie Riebel via the county Web site, www.allencounty.org.
On Tuesday afternoon, commissioners will tour Emprise Bank in Humboldt, one of several possible sites for the 911 dispatch center. Commissioners previously toured the former LaHarpe Elementary School and discussed the old Heartland Rural Electric office building, 410 N. State St.
Yesterday commissioners put off considering construction of an ambulance station in Gas, but said they may ask contractors to offer designs and bids for the structure anyway. Four companies prepared documents giving their qualifications, which commissioners reviewed two weeks ago.
