Burglary, arson tips sought

Allen County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information related to at least 15 vehicle burglaries and two fires reported since early last week.
Mike Ford, community resource officer with the Iola Police Department, noted all the vehicle burglaries have one thing in common: all the cars were unlocked.
“Now that it’s warmer, there are a lot of people out walking around,” Ford said. “Apparently, all they do is walk along to see which cars are unlocked. If they’re unlocked, they see what they can take.” There have been few concrete leads, Ford said.
The fires were in the 700 block of East Jackson Avenue and the 900 block of East Street. Most of the vehicle burglaries have been in the southeast part of town.
Those with information may call Crime Stoppers at (800)-222-TIPS. Callers’ identities will remain confidential, Ford said.
